Weddings
Imagine all the romance of a destination wedding right in the heart of Omaha.
Throughout the four seasons, there’s no more romantic setting in Omaha than Joslyn Castle.
The Castle has all the amenities you will require to make your special day one to remember, whether your guests are from Omaha or the most sophisticated city in the world.
The Joslyn Castle can be configured many ways to meet the needs of your wedding and reception. Your dreams will be fulfilled whether the guest list is for a dozen or up to 200. Seasonally, a tent can be erected on the grounds so that weddings with more than 200 guests may be accommodated.
Joslyn Castle’s magnificent interior serves as a lavish background for your ceremony and celebration, minimizing the need to accessorize. Omaha’s prime caterers are available to serve you and your guests. Your wedding dance can be held in the Castle’s own music room.
Here are a few details to help you evaluate Joslyn Castle:
- The first and second floor of the Castle (only) may be used for weddings.
- There is ample space on the park-like grounds for rented tents.
- Tours are available during the event for your guests.
- Guests may remain on the premises no later than 1 a.m.
- Fire safety is a special concern in this historic structure. Votives, floating candles, or candles enclosed in chimneys are allowed on guest tables, buffet tables and cake tables only. There can be no fires in the fireplaces (by order of the Fire Marshal). If you wish to have a unity candle or candelabra, this is allowed, but only during the wedding ceremony. Similarly, candles may be placed in the music room windows during the ceremony; however, these must be extinguished immediately upon concluding the ceremony.
- The Castle Events Director is required to review all decorations, and room use plans.
Confetti, glitter, rice, balloons, fireworks, feathers, flower petals or bird seed may not be used either inside or outside of the Castle.
Smoking inside the castle during an event will result in the loss of your security deposit.
You are invited to preview the Joslyn Castle along with any members of your family or friends. We welcome the opportunity to meet and provide more detailed information and recommendations, should you wish them.
To make an appointment, call Angie Hartz at 595-3209 or e-mail angieh@joslyncastle.com.
Bar service must be coordinated through your caterer. All bartenders are required to be hired by the caterer. All state and local liquor laws must be followed. Your caterer may obtain a liquor license for your event with a 21-day minimum advance notice. You may not sell liquor without a liquor license.
The client accepts all responsibility for his/her actions and all actions of guests in regard to alcohol consumption. Any guest may be asked to vacate the premises if his/her actions due to alcohol consumption are in question.
Kegs are not allowed inside the castle or on the porches. A guest may have kegs if there are tents on the grounds with a bartender tending the keg. All champagne must be uncorked by the caterers in the kitchen or on the porch.
Few classic settings include a music room. The Joslyn Castle’s room is a rich combination of wood and stained glass. Requirements are designed to preserve its beauty.
Dancing is restricted to the music room, only.
The music room is not large, so musical groups of more than four persons may not be accommodated. The music room’s balcony may not be used for musical groups. The Castle representative should be consulted regarding placement of musicians or a D.J.
Only string quartets, solo musicians or harp players are allowed to perform outside the music room. D.J.s should consult the Castle events representative, to determine maximum weight for equipment and placement of lights, speakers and other equipment. It is Joslyn Castle policy for musicians and D.J.s to stop performances at midnight to enable everyone to safely exit the grounds before 1 a.m.
Joslyn Castle is a private, historic setting for your event. There are several options that may be tailored to your needs:
To reserve the Castle for your event, a down payment of half of the rental fee is required. When you complete, sign and return a contract with the down payment, your requested date will be confirmed. Should you cancel within 90 days prior to the event the entire down payment will be forfeited.
An additional $500 deposit against damages is due at the same time final payment is made--10 days prior to the event. The damage deposit is held until the Castle is inspected and approved following your event. If damage was not incurred, nor terms of the contract violated, the entire deposit is returned.
